'Rising Kashmir' Editor Shujaat Bukhari Shot Dead In Srinagar
Shujaat Bukhari was the editor of the newspaper 'Rising Kashmir' and was given police protection since an attack on him in 2000
Senior journalist Shujaat Bukhari was shot dead on Thursday evening outside his office in Srinagar in an audacious terror attack that has left the nation in shock.
Mr Bukhari, the editor of Rising Kashmir newspaper, was shot at close range in the attack in which his two security officers were also killed. He was attacked when he had stepped out of his office in Press Colony in the city to head home. The killers emptied their magazines into their victims before fleeing the scene.
Union Government approves 33% Increase In Carpet Area Of Houses Under PMAY-U
The union government approved a 33% increase in carpet area of houses eligible for interest subsidy under its affordable housing scheme Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) to attract more beneficiaries.
The carpet area of a house has been enhanced to 160 sq m from 120 sq m for Middle Income Group-I (MIG-I), while it has been increased to 200 sq m from 150 sq m in case of MIG-II.
Under the Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS), each beneficiary can avail subsidy up to Rs 2.35 lakh on purchase of a house under the scheme.

International Conference On ICT To Be Held In Kathmandu
An International Conference on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) will be held in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal from June 17.
The Theme of the two-day conference is “Sustainable Development Goals for Smart Society”.
The conference is organized by the Federation of Computer Association Nepal (CAN).
Around 500 delegates, including ICT users, trainers, professionals, experts, and researchers from Japan, China, Korea, India, and Nepal will attend the event.
The conference aims to bring government and private sector together for developing a plan of action using sustainable ICT applications. It also seeks to unleash the prospects of SMART Nepal by 2030.

Raksha Mantri, Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurated the first Representative Office of Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) in Hanoi, Vietnam.
Smt Sitharaman handed over the symbolic key of the Representative Office of BEL at Vietnam (VIRO) to Chairman & Managing Director, BEL Mr Gowtama MV during the Vietnam-India Defence Industry Business Meeting.
The Representative Office will aim to promote BEL’s exports in areas such as Weapon Systems, Radar Systems, Naval Systems, Military Communication Systems, Electronic Warfare Systems, Combat Management System and Coastal Surveillance System.

Cashless Ticketing Through 'Utsonmobile' App Developed By CRIS
The Centre for Railway Information System (CRIS) developed a mobile-based application ‘utsonmobile'.
The ‘utsonmobile’ application enables booking and cancellation of unreserved tickets, issue and renewal of season and platform tickets, check and load R-wallet balance and helps maintain user profile management and booking history.

India Bags 3 Medals At Umakhanov Memorial Boxing Tournament In Russia
Indian boxers bagged one Gold and two Silver medals at the Umakhanov Memorial Tournament in the Russian city of Kaspiysk. Saweety Boora won the coveted yellow metal in the Women’s 75 kg category after beating Anna Anfinogenova (Russia) in the Final.

Gavit Murali Kumar bags gold in men's 10,000 metre race at Gouden Spike meeting
Young long-distance runner Gavit Murali Kumar bagged a gold in men's 10,000-metre race at the Gouden Spike meeting in Leiden, The Netherlands.
The 21-year-old Kumar, hailing from Gujarat, clocked a personal best of 28 minutes 43.34 seconds.
It was the best by an Indian in the ongoing season.
It was also the second-fastest time by an Indian ever in the distance race, just short of long-distance coach Surendra Singh's national record of 28 minutes 02.89 seconds set at Vigo, Spain in 2008.

Mobile Banking Rank By SBIs Annual Report: Paytm Tops By Volume And Axis Bank Tops By Value
At 17.2%, Axis Bank commands the largest value share of mobile banking transactions but it’s Paytm that tops volumes with 22%.
However, Paytm’s value share is a meagre 0.25%, according to State Bank of India’s (SBI) annual report for 2017-18 which has put out Reserve Bank of India’s data for January 2018.
ICICI Bank has a 17.1% share of transactions by value and 9.7% by volume. SBI’s volume share has slipped by over 5 percentage points from nearly 25% at the end of March 2017 to 19.5% in January 2018.

HDFC Banks Proposal To Raise Additional Share Capital Approved
Union Cabinet approved the proposal for grant of permission to HDFC Bank to raise additional share capital of up to a maximum of 24,000 crore rupees.
The composite foreign shareholding in the Bank will not exceed 74% of the enhanced paid-up equity share capital of the bank.
According to the Finance Minister Piyush Goyal, the proposed investment is expected to strengthen the capital adequacy ratio of the bank.
The Cabinet also approved reconstitution of North Eastern Council (NEC).
Home Minister will be the ex officio chairman of NEC and the Minister of State for DoNER will serve as Vice Chairman of the council.
