World Intellectual Property Day is celebrated on 26th of April to learn about the role that intellectual property rights (patents, trademarks, industrial designs, copyright) play in encouraging innovation and creativity.

Madras HC, 1st Court In South India To Introduce E-Court Fee Payment Facility

The Madras High Court became the first court in south India and overall eighth in the country to introduce e-court fee payment facility.

It was jointly launched by Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami and Chief Justice Indira Banerjee.

The new system will enable litigants who file cases in High Court to pay judicial stamp duty to the government through e-stamps, which can be purchased both online and offline.

It will pave way for easier and secure way of paying stamp duty.

Coastal security exercise 'Sagar Kavach' begins in Kerala

A two-day coastal security exercise 'Sagar Kavach' began today to strengthen and assess the loopholes in the coastal security mechanism along Kerala shores.
 Apart from the Coast Guard, the Navy, Coastal Police and Marine Enforcement wing and various other security stakeholders were also participating in the exercise, a defence press release here said.
Three ships of the navy, 10 of Coastguard, four fishing boats, besides 20 coastal police stations from Vizhinjam to Kasaragod are among those taking part in the drill held twice a year.

Kerala CM launches Pravasi Pension Scheme

The scheme gives those hailing from Kerala but living outside the state or country, a pension of ?2,000 a month. People over the age of 60 years are eligible for the pension.

To avail the scheme, one needs to pay ?100 every month. They should enroll in the scheme launched by Kerala Pravasi Pension Board

India Signs Loan Agreement With World Bank For US$ 125 Million
A Loan Agreement for IBRD credit of US$ 125 (equivalent) for the “Innovate in India for Inclusiveness Project” was signed with the World Bank in New Delhi. 

The Objectives of the project is to nurture indigenous innovation, foster local product development and accelerate commercialization process by bridging critical skill and infrastructure gaps to promote affordable and innovative healthcare products generation for inclusive development and increasing competitiveness in India.

The closing date of Innovate in India for Inclusiveness project is 30 June, 2023.

M-Awas App For Allotment Of GPRA Through ASA Launched

Hardeep Puri, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs (I/C) launched a Mobile App (m-Awas) for allotment of Government accommodations in General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) in Delhi under the control of the Directorate of Estates.

The application has been developed by NIC. A total number of 61,317 residential accommodations of various types are available in Delhi which are allotted to the eligible Central Government employees through Automated System of Allotment (ASA), by using login Id and password. 

Sushma Swaraj Attends Meeting Of India-Mongolia Joint Committee

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj co-chaired the 6th round of India-Mongolia Joint Consultative Committee meeting with her Mongolian counterpart Damdin Tsogtbaatar in Ulaanbaatar.

The meeting discussed trade, economic, cultural and scientific co-operation.

Mrs Swaraj became the first Indian External Affairs Minister to visit the nation in 42 years.

HRD Ministry Launches 2nd Edition Of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan

The Ministry of Human Resource Development, HRD launched the second edition of the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan under which students from 750 higher educational institutions from across the country will adopt villages and visit them to get acquainted with the lifestyle of people there and the problems faced by them.

The minister advised the students to involve local village people at every stage of problem identification and solving issues relating to health, cleanliness, waste management, plantation, financial inclusion, women and child development.

Giant mosquito found in China
Chinese entomologists have found a giant mosquito with a wing span of 11.15 cm in Sichuan province.

Zhao Li, curator of the Insect Museum of West China, said the mosquito, which belongs to the world’s largest mosquito species Holorusia mikado, was found in August last year during a field trip to Mount Qingcheng in Chengdu, reports Xinhua news agency.

First found in Japan and named by British entomologist John Obadiah Westwood in 1876, the Holorusia mikado species normally have a wing span of about 8 cm.

“These mosquitoes look horrendous, but do not feed on blood. The adults have a life span of only a few days and mainly feed on nectar,”
